Far From Perfect // Taiwan

If life was perfect, then the stories that I have collected in my lifetime would be a lot less numerous, and a lot less exciting.

What do you guys think? What stories do you have? I’d love to hear in the comments below!

Sorry about the poor timing for you. But there's still a lot of good days in a year to go out cycling or hiking in Taipei. When it starts to rain on my halfway, I'll take it and enjoy the struggling. Just like the three winters I spent in Missouri, something I can brag about to my kids.

come to the uk and see even more rain , its just rained heavy for 36 hours none stop with some ice in it. perfect life is not real life. its the things that go wrong , that make the good times better and the balance is restored. uk is freezing wet and damp and even the locals never get use to it . we just put up with it. – tempritures and not good.we get earth tremers in the uk that some don't know about. but my house shakes when there is one . can some scientists move the uk to the far east some where near hong kong or a little further north so the isle of wight is in line with hongkong . that would be nice.

I was in a high building in Taipei the night the biggest quake struck in Taiwan history…was after midnight and it was NO fun…that was one of the reasons I left Taiwan…also pricey as hell, and not much fun to be had…

How sad you ran into bad weather and the earthquake. Bad as an earthquake is, a tornado is even worse. I think they also have that in Taiwan, not very strong twisters like that from the mid-west but still scary.

You are absolutely right, if it scares us a little then you know you are in the right path!
    You are an old soul!

Looks like you went to all the wrong places in Taiwan during the cold season you should go to the hot springs (not the public ones) wild ones . If you find the courage to come back you should come in summer and use this for your guide it has all of Taiwans natural swimmimg holes , beaches , lakes and hotspring with detailed maps and GPS. This is the real Taiwan. Oh and 90% of these places are free. Here's the link

You cannot appreciate fully the warmth of a fire unless you have come in out of a freezing storm, nor the coolness of a mountain stream unless you have hiked sweating up the mountain on a hot summer's day!

You should be a hero to young girls everywhere, along with Ellen Brennan, Cassie Jaye, Lauren Southern, and many others, rather than the toxic modern feminists that grab the headlines these days.

You reminded me of a story in one of my favorite books Richard Bach's "Illusions":

Once there lived a village of creatures along the bottom of a great crystal river. The current of the river swept silently over them all — young and old, rich and poor, good and evil — the current going its own way, knowing only its own crystal self.
Each creature in its own manner clung tightly to the twigs and rocks of the river bottom, for clinging was their way of life, and resisting the current was what each had learned from birth.

But one creature said at last, "I am tired of clinging. Though I cannot see it with my eyes, I trust that the current knows where it is going. I shall let go, and let it take me where it will. Clinging, I shall die of boredom."

The other creatures laughed and said, "Fool! Let go, and that current you worship will throw you tumbled and smashed against the rocks, and you will die quicker than boredom!"

But the one heeded them not, and taking a breath did let go, and at once was tumbled and smashed by the current across the rocks.

Yet in time, as the creature refused to cling again, the current lifted him free from the bottom, and he was bruised and hurt no more.

And the creatures downstream, to whom he was a stranger, cried, "See a miracle! A creature like ourselves, yet he flies! See the messiah, come to save us all!"

And the one carried in the current said, "I am no more messiah than you. The river delights to lift us free, if only we dare let go. Our true work is this voyage, this adventure."

But they cried the more, "Savior!" all the while clinging to the rocks, and when they looked again he was gone, and they were left alone making legends of a savior.

The AC of the bus on in winter is because that there will be foggy on Windows glass if they don't turn it.
However, I don't like it neither.

Perfect world…doesn’t exist. This is an imperfect world, TAIWAN and the USA included. Imperfect makes perfect anyway. Like your positive attitudes.
