SONGKRAN FESTIVAL in Bangkok Thailand!!

SONKRAN is a festival of utmost happiness of Thai people. During the long holiday, many city dwellers go back home upcountry to celebrate with their families. It’s time of refreshing fun during the hottest part of the year. The young playfully splash water over each other to generate and share a collective feeling of freshness. Soaking someone isn’t insulting; the water is a blessing bringing welcome coolness to people’s live. The Songkran festival takes place on 13 -15 April and represents the traditional Thai New Year.

The word Songkran comes from Sanskrit and means “passing”, that is passage into a new star configuration, into a new year. Even though the official New Year’s Day in Thailand has long been changed to 1 January, people still respect the old tradition.

Crazy how millions of people are suffering from a drought which has been declared the worst humanitarian crisis since WW2!! And these people are just wasting water 🙁

I'm from Bangkok but I went to NYC for Songkran. Songkran is great but it gets boring year after year. As someone who works in Bangkok its a long break and you can take an international trip without taking many days off from work.

Your vlogs are getting better every time and they definitely make me dream about traveling to new places.😊
My best friend is from Thailand and she told me a lot about Somgkran. So I loved seeing Songkran through someone else's perspective, and now I know that visiting Thailand with her during Songkran is definitely on my bucket list.😄
Thanks for the videos and I can't wait see your next trip.

Great vlog Erik! I was in Bangkok too – Day 1 I spent in Silom and Day 2 in Khao San road… day 3 I went to the Chatuchak weekend market. Love the drone footage btw! 🙂

hey. crash drone, sounds familiar 🙂 have some friends.. been there done that 😉
well i just had my 15th Songkran. 2009 -2017 all over all over the country, 1-2 place in a year. And it is different compared to where you are under Songkran. But as you say, there is so much positivity among these people, we as tourists enjoy this. In one way we have a lot to learn from others. 🙂
It's their New Year's celebration not ours, we're just a small tourist who takes part of it there and then. Continue on this fine journey .. travling is the only thing you buy, that makes you ritcher. 🙂 😉
